Ordering Information

Over the years, the Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (ABPBC) has produced catalogues for K–12 educators and librarians. We have shared hundreds of book recommendations by teachers, for teachers.

All of the books that appear in our school catalogues are selected from publisher submissions by teacher-librarians. The titles have been chosen for their relevance to school curricula and are annotated by educational evaluators.

Books in the BC Books for BC Schools catalogue are published by BC-based publishing companies, often reflecting local stories for use in local classrooms.

Since 2017, books in the Canadian Indigenous Books for Schools catalogue have undergone additional review to ensure that they meet criteria for authentic Indigenous Voice. Authentic voice books allow for real Indigenous voices, stories, and histories to be heard.

In 2021, we re-envisioned these print catalogues as a free online database, powered by 49th Shelf. The online format allows us to reach an even wider audience of educators, improve the functionality and accessibility of the catalogues, and reduce our environmental footprint. The same standards for selections apply: all of the titles listed on www.booksforschools.ca have undergone independent review by educators. We strive to be a trusted source of classroom resources for Canadian educators.

Please find past editions of our educational catalogues here.
