Descriptive Review
I Hear You, Forest was a Winter 2022 Top Grade selection of CanLit for the Classroom and was named a CBC Best Canadian Picture Book of 2021. The simple, sensory style of this poetic text invites many cross-curricular explorations of local plants and animals through writing, art, music, outdoor education, and scientific inquiry. Author Kallie George describes the sounds of both living and non-living objects that one might hear on a walk through the forest, inviting students to take learning outside and listen to their surroundings. Students can learn about local plants and animals and document the sounds they hear or might hear in different community settings to create their own sensory poems and artwork. Young students might also be inspired to create their own musical soundscapes by recreating sounds that they hear in nature.

Editorial Reviews
“A whimsical tale of a child who listens hard in enjoying the woods. Every spread features onomatopoeic text that simulates the sounds of trees, leaves, animals, and other living things … A good reminder that a stroll through the woods should provide lots of opportunities to slow down and notice.”
