Descriptive Review
Lena and Ruby: A Story of Two Adoptions is about two Inuit girls who have very different adoption stories. Lena has a traditional Inuit custom adoption, and Ruby has a transracial adoption. The girls explain their experience growing up with their adoptive families, how they met, and how important they are to each other. Lena and Ruby introduce the concept of adoption in an accessible way that can help children understand family diversity and the importance of culture. The story is written in English with some Inuktitut words. Kevin Qamaniq-Mason is Inuit.
