Descriptive Review

This text has been awarded the Green Earth Book Award for its comprehensive insight into the impacts of noise pollution on the natural environment. This text aligns with the grade four and seven Science curricula, helping students learn about how animals sense and respond in their ecosystems and how they evolve over time to ensure their survival. Students will discover how noise from human activity is negatively affecting the evolution of species to survive and adapt by interrupting important lines of communication between animals. Author Stephen Aitken provides clear and accessible information to prompt students to think critically about noise pollution in their own lives, how it affects their daily activities, and possible solutions to clear the airways. Students can take learning outdoors to listen to their surroundings, compare how many sounds they hear from the natural world as opposed to sounds made by human activity, and then examine the results.
