Descriptive Review
No. 5 Bubblegum Street is a vibrant picture book that introduces an eclectic group of characters living together in an apartment building. The celebration and coming together of a diverse group of individuals supports students' understanding of healthy communities and sharing commonalities with others in Social Studies. This group of characters come together through music, song, dance, and art to showcase how creative expression is a means to explore and share one’s identity in a community and build connections to support Arts Education. The unique and eye-catching artistic style of illustrator Gosia Herba combined with the variation of writing styles by Mikołaj Pa invites readers to spend time appreciating every page. The playfulness of the descriptive text and accompanying pictures in this story also expands vocabulary for young readers and strongly supports the development of character.
