Descriptive Review
This children’s story, told in both English and Inuktitut, centres around Oleepeeka, who is from Panniqtuuq, NU. It is a story of a young girl's first time hunting with her father. It is a traditional journey through Nunavut and all its winter beauty experienced by the young girl and her father. Oleepeeka is excited to spend the day with Ataata while learning about the hunt and about catching ptarmigans. Oleepeeka's First Hunt also provides follow-up questions at the end for the reader to reflect and some fun activities for all ages. This book will introduce children to the Inuit lifestyle and language while entertaining new readers.
