Descriptive Review

This graphic novel is the fast-paced sequel to Shadow Island in the Sueño Bay Adventures series. Jenna needs to make money to pay the veterinarian bills for a dog injured under her care. Part-time work and a shady involvement stealing crab traps aren’t enough, so when Jenna discovers mysterious glowing spheres below the waters of Otter Bay, she decides to sell them. But the spheres are the eggs of the mysterious Moon creature, and the mother monster goes on a rampage, determined to reclaim her young, at great cost to the island community. Assisted by her friends, Jenna tries to recover and return the eggs. The colourful illustrations and clever variety in panel sizes keep the action zipping along while delivering a gentle message about consequences and taking responsibility. If the island setting looks familiar, it is because husband and wife author duo Mike and Nancy Deas live on Mayne Island.
