Descriptive Review

Our Long Struggle for Home is a story of struggle and reclamation, authored by several Anishinaabe Peoples connected to the forced displacement of families due to the Ipperwash army base. The ongoing oppression that stemmed from colonial attitudes toward the land were factors in the eventual murder of Dudley George. This story is told by the George family members and others close to the experience of resistance through land reclamation. First-hand accounts create a depth to the storytelling that makes the reader feel as though they are listening to stories at the kitchen table, experiencing the pain and heartbreak of disconnection and the celebration of coming home.
