Descriptive Review
These two plays for young adults address the profound anxiety and social issues that teens face today. Still • Falling is the same one-person play told from a female perspective and then from a male perspective, providing a fascinating comparative opportunity for senior courses. In the context of a therapist's office, the play discusses multiple highs and lows and attempts at self-harm. The Code is a three-person play in which teens deal with feelings of attraction and rejection, exploring social media's role in both. Both the Forward and a Playwright’s Note support the teacher (and students) in approaching the themes of this play. A fabulous study guide with activities, discussion prompts, photos of the Green Thumb Theatre’s production, and glossary terms makes this resource a must for all high school drama courses, clubs, and libraries.
