Descriptive Review

An unusual read, sure to catch the attention of those interested in quirky but true facts about the human body. The tour guide, Wisdom Tooth, welcomes you to the contents page, cleverly designed to resemble a museum floor plan. Our first exhibition is an introductory chapter that chronicles human evolution. Next up are a variety of human “useless” bits, a.k.a. vestigial structures, such as disappearing kidneys, wisdom teeth, and goosebumps, with the Your Inner Monkey exhibit examining vestiges of long-lost monkey muscles. The “Natural Selection” display explains the genetic variations that led to a variety of traits like the appendix, tails, and more! Learn why your fingers go wrinkly, the cause of hiccups, and why humans need vitamins while animals don’t! Colourful diagrams and silly illustrations greatly enhance the text, which provides useful information about evolution, natural selection, and our human ancestors. Fun “Try This” activities throughout further engage the reader.
