Descriptive Review

In this nonfiction picture book, a young child marvels with wide-eyed wonder at how much scientists know about the world inside, around, and beyond us. Intriguing discoveries such as how sea stars walk on tiny tube feet, how dinosaurs roamed the shores of seas that are now grasslands, and how on Jupiter, the same storm has raged for hundreds of years will also stimulate readers’ curiosity. Though it sometimes seems scientists know everything, the curious youngster still has many questions that, as of yet, have no answer. Why does every humpback whale sing a different song? How do trees learn to talk to one another through their tangled roots? And of course: What will I discover? The full-page colour illustrations delightfully portray pleasant-faced creatures and land, undersea, and space scenes. The style is simple, yet there is plenty to explore visually. The text is clear and sentences short.
